While we are still reeling from the impacts of Covid-19, the pandemic has undeniably altered many of our approaches to life.
Months of lockdown and staying home has forced us to pay more attention to our mental wellbeing and quality of life. Hopping from bed to desk for work and going out decked in masks have changed our beauty routines and made us reevaluate the need for makeup.
We are learning to be comfortable in our own skin. What used to be the obsession with picture-perfect moments on “reel” life is replaced by a desire to feel at ease in real life.
In a world run over with uncertainties, there’s an increasing need to feel mentally grounded, at peace and confident with our rawest self. That is why it can feel liberating to go makeup-free. No hiding behind layers of coverage, no foundation addiction in order to feel confident.
Many reviews from our users say the same thing – once you start going foundation-free, you can never go back.

“I’ve used countless skin care products. Some were great. But 𝙣𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 has provided me with the confidence to walk out of the house without wearing foundation.
Until I started using DR’s Secret.
And just yesterday, after going for a swim, I took a shower and realized I forgot to bring my skin care products. I had no choice but to wash my face with water and went on with my dinner plan. Then, someone commented that my absolutely naked skin looks radiant and smooth…
This really made my day.
Some asked if it is crazy to apply 7 products day and night. The answer is no. It only takes me 5 minutes to get ready now and it is way more efficient than ever.”

The hassle-free convenience of skipping on a makeup routine is attractive. But the real satisfaction comes from owning healthy, glowing skin that doesn’t require coverage. Beyond the appearance, it is also a reflection of wellness.
Furthermore, putting on less cosmetics can work wonders for your skin health too.
How do you get started on going foundation-free?
For those of you who have grown to depend heavily on makeup and foundation for years, going foundation-free right from the get-go can be challenging.

Here are 3 simple steps to get you going:
1. Start on a skin care routine that works for you
Take care of your skin. It’s as simple as it gets. If you have never been a day and night routine kind of girl (or guy), we encourage you to start. And we’re not talking about a 10-step elaborate routine.
Introduce your skin to the basics of Cleanse, Moisturise and SPF. The DR’s Secret Conditioning Routine and Starter Kits are great options for skin care newbies.

If you are a committed skin care user but have yet to find a routine that works for you, perhaps you can try a more customised solution. At DR’s Secret, we introduce every user to a Skin Buddy who can help to customise the right routine to meet your skin goals. The routine is tailored to your skin through specific amounts of product to use and the right sequence to be applied.
Getting your skin to a healthy spiral up is a sure way to get closer to the foundation-free glow.
2. Lessen your dependence on makeup one product at a time
Feeling jittery from the idea of baring your face to the world? Take it one step at a time. If you have been using the full works of primer, foundation, contour, concealer and setting powder, try removing one to two products. Another tip is to replace foundation creams with a less heavy powder or BB cream.
As you get more accustomed to not wearing foundation, go on to reduce your usage of concealers and setting powder. Keep concealers to only your eye area to mask stubborn eye bags.

Shift your focus from makeup to sun protection and skin care. Pay more attention to applying sunscreen on a daily basis and make sure to reapply throughout the day instead of reaching for your foundation.
Always remove your makeup thoroughly and never neglect cleansing at the end of the day.
By applying lesser cosmetics, you introduce fewer pore-clogging ingredients and chemicals that could cause dullness and acne. As you allow your skin to breathe free, you start to enhance the effectiveness and quicken the results of your skin care routine.
3. Go foundation-free on the weekends
If you need to be wearing makeup daily for professional purposes, try to go foundation-free as much as possible on weekends and day-offs. This will give your skin a break and help you determine if the foundation-free life is for you.

Alternatively, you may also skip foundation but use eye products and lip colour as a finishing touch to brighten your look.
Good one. thanks for your helpful instruction.
We’re glad you found the information useful! 😊
